Sustainability Saturdays: Podcasts

Hello everyone, thanks for joining us for another Sustainability Saturday segment! This week Aerielle talks us through our favourite sustainable podcasts....

If you needed a sign to take a break- this is it.

Resting is something we all need, but we take it one step further-doing it productively.

Continuing with our last Sustainability Saturday in educating ourselves, we are coming at you with another source of sustainability insight: podcasts!

The days of physical reading, while beneficial, are behind us as we can listen to nearly everything at our fingertips. Whether you’re in the bath, on a walk, or making dinner, we now can multi-task and save the world while doing it. Keep reading to find our 5 sustainable picks.

1. The Yikes Podcast (available on Spotify)

Thinking of the word “2020” alone is enough for us to say yikes, and this podcast focuses on approaching it-in a manageable way. If you've ever felt like all the madness is too much to handle, yet you still want to understand current issues like the diversity debates or climate change, the hosts feature content designed to be taken in an “accessible” way. Fashion lovers-check out episode 5 on fast fashion, it’s definitely worthwhile.

2. Agnes LDN Podcast

Settle down for a weekly conversation with Agnes, and you’ll be better for it. Each week, she comes out with a new episode speaking to various professionals, activists, and individuals involved in sustainability and wellbeing. From baby clothing rentals, vegan businesses, and food waste, she inspires listeners with the conversations where she highlights challenges and celebrates progress. There’s a wide range of topics to listen to, so have fun in satisfying your diverse interests.

3. The Plant Based Business Podcast

Get down to business with some plant-based food for thought. Vevolution is a platform of plant-based and cell based entrepreneurs to connect with one another and to also connect with potential investors. The organisation believes in the future plant powered economy, and on the podcast hosts different start ups and investors in a conversation of what it’s like to create and scale their businesses. Vevolution puts an emphasis on forward moving innovation and those looking to create change, and we couldn’t agree more with businesses looking to improve society.

4. What Planet Are We On

Honestly, we have all asked this question at least once within the past year. Instead, the next time you ask yourself, try and answer the question proactively, armed with knowledge of what’s making your planet a better place to be. Liz Bonnin approaches this question head on, speaking with experts and sustainability heroes, and gives listeners the truth of what is happening to our moody climate, and how we can help. Her bonus content of ‘Our 10 favourite solutions’ is a great place to start if you need a positive climate boost. And at only 13 minutes, why not?

5. Sustainably Influenced

The name says it all. Guiding us through the “minefield of sustainability”, influencers Charlotte Williams and Bianca Foley, they give us a run down of all the twists and turns. They clarify what it means to live consciously, explain the various terms used in the industry (carbon-negative who?), and get it all from the experts. This podcast also covers a wide spectrum of fields and professions, like clean curly hair care and sustainable shopping rewards. Listening to a podcast is indeed a good influence and a fun time.
